Baumind is an AI-powered co-pilot that automatically checks digital building models (BIM) for compliance with building regulations and corrects errors directly – before costly design flaws materialise in the real world.
To date, compliance errors have been among the biggest hidden cost drivers in the construction industry. In Germany alone, planning and regulatory errors cause annual losses of around €43.1 billion (equivalent to 8.1% of the sector’s total turnover). At the same time, BIM specialists lose up to 35% of their valuable working time on manual compliance checks, researching legal texts and subsequent rework. The result: 61% of all building applications fail on the first attempt, leading to massive delays, endless redesign cycles and shrinking margins.
Baumind solves this problem through direct integration with popular CAD software such as Revit and Archicad. Architects can select the relevant building regulations, whereupon the AI analyses the entire model, identifies faulty elements and links the weaknesses directly to the official legal texts.
But Baumind goes far beyond mere error detection: the software automatically generates appropriate design corrections that architects can apply directly to the model with just one click. By catching non-compliance issues early and eliminating manual rework, planning teams secure faster approvals, avoid costly delays and protect their profitability – particularly during the critical approval phase. Baumind turns bureaucratic hurdles into a real competitive advantage.
What are your biggest challenges at the moment?
Our biggest challenges currently lie in three key areas: completing the product, securing funding and building the team.
We are in the final stages of developing our Minimum Viable Product (MVP). To finance our subsequent market entry and further scale the product, we are actively seeking pre-seed funding. At the same time, we are working intensively to establish strategic contacts with potential pilot clients (architectural firms, construction companies) and investors from the PropTech and DeepTech sectors.
In addition, we are looking for a third co-founder to join our team, who will take responsibility for business development and the preparation of the business and financial plan.
What is your goal for the duration of the EXIST-Women programme?
My primary goal during the EXIST Women programme is to successfully complete the development of our MVP and validate the software in initial real-world test environments. In addition, I would like to use the programme’s structure and network to secure our first committed pilot clients, establish contacts with business angels and VCs, and lay a solid foundation for the upcoming funding round.
