Abnoba develops AI-powered computer vision technology for recycling plants to automatically detect and classify materials and contaminants. Our aim is to drastically reduce material losses, make processes more efficient and promote the circular economy through the targeted reuse of resources.

The idea for the company arose from my many years of experience in the construction industry: I worked for over 20 years as a civil engineer and carpenter, during which time I was regularly confronted with the pressing challenges of the circular economy. I see enormous potential, particularly in wood and metal recycling, for returning valuable materials to the material cycle. In many facilities, however, these sorting processes are still carried out manually and are barely digitised.

Through the targeted use of AI technology, we are creating a scalable solution that perfectly combines sustainability and cost-effectiveness. Our system helps recycling companies to use resources efficiently and position themselves for the future.

What are your biggest challenges at the moment?

My biggest challenge at the moment is to work with our pilot clients to develop a marketable, scalable software product. This involves validating the concrete added value of our technology in real-world operations and achieving the optimal product-market fit.

What is your goal for the EXIST-Women programme?

My goal for the EXIST Women programme is to further develop Abnoba strategically and thereby make a concrete contribution to climate protection. I want to make full use of the programme’s strong network, financial support and specialist services to consolidate the foundations of our start-up.
