Urban Shift
Urban Shift will drive forward the EU Green Deal and deliver groundbreaking innovations to tackle climate change in urban areas. A vibrant ecosystem will be created in which universities, a vocational training institution and industry partners will implement a dynamic curriculum for transdisciplinary start-up training and two cohorts of Living Labs for a total of 80 learners from diverse backgrounds (urban planning, environmental engineering, media and business). With the support of trainers (from higher education, vocational training and business partners representing five European cities: Barcelona, Bolzano, Copenhagen, Stuttgart and Vienna), the learners will develop solutions to pressing urban challenges by founding a total of 10 transdisciplinary start-ups and working closely with a network of urban experts and multipliers. A ‘Living Exhibition’, combined with EU Green Deal Ambassadors, will offer a new and impact-oriented approach to disseminating and communicating the project’s results.
The urban challenges addressed are:
Lot 1: Urban heat islands & cooling, as well as food waste/circular economy
Lot 2: Climate/extreme weather predictability & mobility/circular economy
The Living Ecosystem of Urban Shift will comprise the following components:
Equipping learners (from higher education and vocational training) with relevant GREEN LABOUR MARKET SKILLS (digital, green, entrepreneurial and transdisciplinary/resilient skills) to help them become green entrepreneurs and/or future employees in green jobs
an easily adaptable LIVING CURRICULUM template to promote future transdisciplinary collaboration between higher education and vocational training institutions during the project and beyond
2 sets of LIVING EXHIBITIONS to promote the established solutions, the ambitions of the EU Green Deal and the Living Curriculum via EU GREEN DEAL AMBASSADORS
the SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS SOLUTIONS developed by the transdisciplinary start-up teams
an Urban Shift ALUMNI NETWORK of learners and trainers to promote collaboration and joint development during and after the official end of the project
an OPEN ONLINE TRAINING for external trainers to implement the Living Curriculum in other European and international contexts
2 Cities Network Engagement Roundtables will be held during the project period
